The Dux opened their season with a 0-0 tie against the Falcons of Allendale. Ryleigh Farrell made 3 saves in anchoring a seasoned Dux defense that only allowed 3 shots on goal. Mattie Busscher, Lucy Bouvier, Josie Bos and Tally Martinez helped keep the pressure on the Falcons by playing stingy defense, and were instrumental in starting the Dux offensive attack in both halves. "Defensively, we played solid and were relatively organized a majority of the game. We relied heavily on our experience in back tonight, which allowed some of our younger players to gain confidence and experience in front of them. We moved the ball pretty well in both halves, and did a decent job of possessing and generating chances, especially in the second half."

Despite outshooting the Falcons 12-3 for the game, the Dux failed to find the back of the net, hitting 2 posts and a crossbar. The Falcon keeper made 3 critical saves in the second half to keep the game knotted at 0-0. "Offensively, our midfield began to find the game in the second half, which allowed us to apply more pressure on their defense. They are a pretty aggressive, quick and physical team, and our younger players did some growing up tonight - we are learning that we need to be a little quicker and more decisive, and that we can be a little stronger on the ball. Overall, I am pleased with our team's effort and energy. We controlled the tempo of the game, and frustrated them defensively. The only think lacking was our finishing."
